We continually adapt our gas solutions to respond to the challenges of metal fabrication and assembly’s manufacturing processes. Welding joins workpieces, usually metals, by melting their edges so that they fuse together. The main process is arc welding. For this process, a gas is required to shield the liquid pool from the ambient air. Argon-based mixtures are the main industry shielding gases. Cutting is used to separate pieces of metal sheets, structures and pipes. This is achieved by using flame, plasma or laser cutting where the gas is an active component to melt, burn, vaporize or blow away excess material, thereby creating clean cut edges.

In agriculture, using carbon dioxide can help increase the yield and growth rate of fruits, vegetables, plants and flowers cultivated in greenhouses. Achieving ideal carbon dioxide levels to produce flourishing plants, faster crop maturity and larger cash crops requires know-how. In aquaculture, oxygen is absolutely necessary for the life of aquatic organisms. Some species are very sensitive to a lack of oxygen while others are much less so. This oxygen is naturally provided by the water in which the fish live, but the intensification of farming makes this natural source insufficient. It is therefore necessary to provide additional oxygen to the water.

In the food industry, freezing usually refers to deep freezing, or lowering the temperature of a product below -18°C. In contrast, chilling refers to the rapid cooling of a food product from its manufacturing temperature down to refrigerated or cold temperatures, usually from 2 to 4°C. Compared to traditional mechanical freezing and chilling technologies, cryogenic food refrigeration offers advantages in terms of product quality which is critical for added-value, complex or fragile products, and also in terms of improved productivity, greater process flexibility especially for small to medium production outputs, reduced capex requirements and optimizing cost initiatives.

Modified atmospheric is a process for packaging food products together with a gas or gas mixture that replaces air inside the package and provides protective and reactive properties. When combined, the gas and the packaging help to prevent microbial, enzymatic and physical deterioration in order to maintain the initial taste and quality of a food product. Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) preserves the color, appearance and organoleptic properties of food during the product's shelf life, and protects food from harmful bacteria.

Water is a precious resource and needs to be used wisely. Water treatment consists of several mechanical and chemical processes that aim to remove water contaminants or reduce their concentration in order to make water more acceptable for a desired end-use. Water treatment technologies are used to produce water intended for drinking and industrial purposes. They are responsible for preventing corrosion, scaling and bacterial development. They can also be applied to treat wastewater for reuse or prior to its discharge in the environment.

In the assembly of electronic components, oxidation reaction, poor wettability and high peak temperature during soldering of printed circuit boards create harm to electronic solder joints. To offset these effects, using nitrogen to inert the atmosphere during soldering has become a globally accepted practice within electronics manufacturing.
