Air Liquide introduces New Zealand's first-of-its-kind B-Train cryogenic tanker
Air Liquide has marked a significant milestone in domestic logistics with the introduction of a high-capacity B-train (or B-double) cryogenic tanker—the first of its kind to be operated by an industrial gas company in New Zealand. The arrival of the B-train is a key component of a multi-faceted project to modernize the supply chain and improve reliability for its customers.
While traditional tankers in the local industrial gas fleet typically hold 18 tonnes, the new B-train boasts a 26-tonne capacity. This "first-of-its-kind" technology features improved stability control and higher reliability, modernizing Air Liquide’s distribution capabilities.
As Air Liquide upgrades to this high-capacity B-train transport solution, it gains full control over delivery timelines, ensuring a more agile and effective service for customers. By carrying more product per trip, the B-train reduces the total number of journeys required, lowering our CO2 emissions as a result.
Committed to Serving Customers
By optimising Air Liquide’s network design and introducing the first B-train in New Zealand, Air Liquide reinforces its commitment to supporting the growth of its customers. This B-train will operate in tandem with Air Liquide’s new industrial gases depot at Ruakura Superhub, which opened in December 2025.
